Description:
Kansas City isn't exactly known for it's metal scene, let alone it's black metal scene. In that sense, this 5-song EP it quite groundbreaking. This is an excellent example of what happens when bands break up, get back together again with a renewed musical vision, and exceed their prior efforts. Two of the members came from local band, Possession, who had quite a following in their day. Their material had a nice dark feel to it, and was a good combination of speed and death metal. Frost Like Ashes only builds on that. Gone are the King Diamond-esque vocals, and in are the trademark black metal shrieks and growls. There is also the subtle use of keyboards." -Sounds of the Dead

nobody looks more stupid in corpse paint than this antestor knock offs, they suck

By raven (04/11/2005 7:43:54 pm):
this band is NOTHING like antestor, whether in image or in sound. Pure as the Blood Covered Snow is a combination of black and death metal that leaves behind most [if not all] of the melodicism and 'folkiness' that plagues most modern christian blackmetal.

By ultmetal (05/16/2005 9:51:22 am):
Frost Like Ashes is comprised of some of the former members of the most awesome Possession! These guys combine death metal, black metal and a bit of thrash for a very unique sound. They are FAR FROM an Antestor knock off.

By palehorse01 (07/01/2005 4:17:12 pm):
Killer black metal. Everyone should own this!

By Frost_Like_Ashes (07/02/2005 5:45:25 pm):
Being called an Antestor knock off isnt as bad as one would think...
but seriously they were never a band we considered an influence...

This was a demo that got released..

By Metalasaurus (07/20/2005 9:52:31 pm):
I would give this album 5 stars except for the fact that it is too short. This is a brilliant piece of black metal art. The vocals remind me of Dani from the secular band Cradle of Filth. I can't wai for FLA to release a longer album.

By Miyu (02/16/2006 6:42:22 pm):
I love this band ... this EP is very good, but the full length is even better.

By YahwehsNinja (02/21/2006 10:44:01 am):
3.5 Stars

By unblack (02/22/2006 9:55:21 am):
this cd is amazing!!!!! only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that their new stuff is even better!!!!! A Cruel Verse is downright amazing!!!!!!!

By ColdGripOfTerror (01/28/2007 12:34:25 am):
I love this album.....lyrics are devistating, yet they show through God's love and grace...Good job

By Anonymus A (02/23/2007 1:30:19 am):
A Christian black metal band from Kansas city...hmmm. who knew. I'll have to look into this band a little more.

By vampireiceviking (03/31/2007 11:41:35 am):
This is incredibly good considering it's a DEMO. Even so, I prefer these songs over "Tophet"

By alphawolf89 (04/14/2007 7:04:30 pm):
I love this EP. The vocals are similar to Dani Filth's vocals but they definitely have their own style. You can't get much heavier than this but it isn't just untalented racket which makes me love it so much. The 2nd track is the creepiest song I have ever heard. You should get it if you love extreme music but remember it is an EP. it's not a full length album.

By Zelote (07/22/2007 12:11:35 pm):
very brutal album, one of the most brutal records that i heard

By Hezrom (09/10/2007 9:22:03 pm):
A very good EP, better of the full album.

By Akel Dama (11/12/2007 4:33:17 pm):
an incredible ep by one of the best bands in music today. fast, brutal, but still memorable. classic.

By unblackmig (01/14/2008 11:02:00 pm):
Frost Like Ashes is the greatest Black Metal band ever! My fav tracks on this one are Adorers of Blood and Immortals. After Forever has got to be the most extreme Black Sabbath cover I've ever heard. I wish these maniacs would do a massive tour!

By ReapSoul964 (04/02/2009 12:49:23 pm):
Definitely my favorite FLA release. I didn't like Tophet as much, because the drums sounded more electronic, even though I really LIKE triggers, but it is also a stellar album. The vocals are some of the most extreme I have ever heard, and that is definitely a plus.
