This is some pretty interesting doom metal!

By Saint Raven (04/18/2006 10:23:36 am):
One of the reigning kings of doom metal returns with a new band after the tragic demise of Ashen Mortality. While there is a definite difference between the sound of Ashen Mortality and My Silent Wake fans of AM [as well as fans of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost and Anathema] are highly encouraged to check this out as I cant imagine them not enjoying this immensely.

This is just a really really great album.

A fantastic debut! A big lift for British doom metal and not before time, with bands like Paradise lost and Anathema losing their edge somewhat of late. Intelligent lyricism and some great instrumental sections, this is a treat for any metaller - and especially those who enjoy the doomier side of metal. Check it out if you haven't already!

By metalmister777 (05/09/2006 12:06:53 pm):
Awesome tunes. Unfortunately I don't like the guitarsound too much. Production was not the strong point of the great band Ashen mortality either. It would be 4.5 if the production was better. Now I will rate it a 4/5.

By TrogDawn (05/14/2006 1:50:22 am):
High quality gothic death doom that is chock FULL of thoughtful and inspired content in the lyrics. There is an epic quality to this that keeps you coming back for more! 5 stars!

Majestic epic death/doom metal. The atmosphere is very Brittish sounding and makes you think of eerie old haunting castles, cobwebs and foggy plains of England. Arkley's sombre gothy clean vocals and crushing powerfully grunted vocals sound like some noble King groaning in sorrow.

By Korsferd (03/17/2007 2:20:48 pm):
Great music, excellent album, fine-taste artwork.
Yan Arkley came to put on move the Doomy side of Christian metal scene.

By dwalk (03/30/2007 10:48:56 pm):
Top ten album of all time for me. The only thing wrong with this album is that it ends.

By Toddtjv (12/15/2008 7:09:10 am):
5/5
I don't feel like condensing my many praises of this amazing disc, so let me just say this:
I was completely blown away when I found out this was MSW's first album. It sounds so mature and thought through- presumably attributable to the fact that MSW rose from the ashes of Ashen Mortality and the conception of some of this writing dates back to those days.
I disagree with metalmister777- the production is perfect. It's not poor production that fits well, it's just plain and simple, perfect production.

If I ever find any flaw with this album I will let you know.

So good.
