The first Living Sacrifice album without original vocalist DJ, and a deliberate shift in style away from pure death metal to more of a metalcore hybrid.

"The style of the album is more on the lines of Metal with Hardcore beats if you can catch my drift. There really isn't any other way that I could possibly explain it to you other than for you to just get the album and listen for yourself." -Dead ezine

By Ureil (02/18/2004 6:12:12 am):
Great album, still in the stores, so they must have done something right.

By LarsA81 (04/15/2004 8:07:29 am):
WWWAAAUUW, what's this. Absolutly awesome metalcore from these masters. Lots and lots of aggression and groove added with some acoustic stuff here and there. Very brutal still. The lyrics are just so amazing. Total praise to The Most High.

Lars.

By brownie (05/19/2004 9:19:49 am):
can't tpuch these guys!

By Traveler in Time (12/23/2004 9:55:47 am):
Possibly the best L.S. cd out there. Non-stop uncommpromising heaviness. Great straightforward lyrics.

By J_Chea (12/23/2004 12:13:12 pm):
This album really helped me and spoke to me. Reborn and Reject just kill. This album was heavy and uncompromising in Message and I really respect that and them for it.
I wish these guys would still put out records. They deserve to be rock stars.

By tourniquet (12/24/2004 1:23:46 pm):
J Chea, they ARE.

By J_Chea (12/27/2004 4:41:57 pm):
In the secular world.

By CaptainCaffiene (01/05/2005 3:55:45 pm):
this CD rocks my face off

By tombthroat (01/10/2005 3:18:23 pm):
way better than their other stuff

By Muse (01/19/2005 1:00:45 pm):
Good album!

By wahoofan (01/23/2005 8:11:18 pm):
Sweet!! I especially like Reject!

By Derek (02/24/2005 9:56:31 am):
"No matter what you try and label it, Reborn is an onslaught of metal that is as crushing as it is interesting... ...I do usually prefer my metal to be longer in individual song-length, but that comes from my love of thrash and prog. Because Living Sacrifice is so heavily groove oriented, so forcefully rhythmic, I enjoy it on a different level."

Thought it was cool at first because I was just getting into the true Christian metal scene, but I never was a big fan of this style of metal vox, so when I found other artists who sounded better, I pretty much abandoned this CD.

By Sir_Cae (03/25/2005 10:23:48 am):
Very nicely put together CD. From what I've heard of their music...This was a CD that definitely changed their musical careers and when they truly started redefining metal.

By hclife4christ (04/09/2005 1:10:02 pm):
must have, as all Living Sacrifice albums. this is metal!

By GloriousDregs (05/14/2005 1:23:34 pm):
Now this is more like it...Ditching the practically unlistenable death metal they were dishing out (along with sub-par vocalist D.J.) for a unique brand of progressive thrash (they hadn't yet degenerated to full on metalcore) Lyrically and musically spectacular, easily the best Living Sacrifice album.

By ultmetal (05/17/2005 1:32:07 pm):
Oh my! If the first song doesn't send you into spastic fits then you are either dead or you don't like heavy, infectious riffs. A nice mixture of thrash and metalcore.

By slamdancer777 (06/05/2005 1:22:44 am):
THIS ALBUM OWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OLD SCHOOL pit time

By Frost_Like_Ashes (07/02/2005 6:46:34 pm):
If core sounds like this then I love it!!! but hardly anyone does it as well as this album was done!!!

By SonofGhosts (07/06/2005 1:46:33 pm):
reject is my favorite song on this album

By WOODchuck1 (08/16/2005 11:15:00 pm):
MAN THESE GUYS MADE MEAN MUSIC!

By endlessfuneral2003 (10/18/2005 9:13:04 pm):
Woah, the album I've always feared to review...

let's start by the BAD (less good:P) : this cd doesn't scream "PLAY ME" for some reason...It's hard to explain... also the lyrics sheet is pretty hard to read and there's like one filler song that I always skip.

the GOOD : Ahhhhhh very refreshing lyrics with a killer thrash sound to back it up! I think the vocals are very intense and greatly shouted.

fav tracks : Reborn Empowered, Awakening, Reject, Spirit Fall

4/5

By metalmister777 (10/23/2005 12:05:13 pm):
Wow. Back in 1997 I gave up hope to find nice christian metal. Til I discovered this. This is awesome!!! I love the radical lyrics too. REBORN EMPOWERED!! 4.5/5

By Jzusfreak7 (11/17/2005 4:42:13 pm):
This was my 1st Metal CD and it kept in
the Metal scene, listened to hip-hop/rap
before so that says alot!!! it's GREAT!!!!

By Holy Roller (11/21/2005 3:17:11 pm):
An absolute classic. One of the all-time greatest Christian metal releases. Blisteringly heavy and intense. Awesome spiritual lyrics, too. Not really metalcore. More of an intense thrash metal. Great playing by everyone involved.

By ghosts of athanasius (12/12/2005 1:54:28 am):
this is probably my favorite after S/T Awesome power in every way. This music fuels my passion for GOd. I love these songs. Reject is my fav but I love every second of this disc. A masterpiece IMO

By Worship at Full Volume (09/13/2009 5:58:39 pm):
Just picked up the re-issue of this for my collection and decided to give it a listen. This is one album that I never got tired of. I enjoyed listening to it this past week as much as I did when I first listened to it on cassette! Got to see them perform many of the songs off of "Reborn" in 2000 at a festival in New Hampshire. Great stuff!
