Band: Living Sacrifice Title: Reborn Year: 1997 Label:Solid State Records Total Votes: 98 Total Views: 2098 Views Today: 1 Added on: Friday, Sep 16 2005, 2:47 PM
Description: Solid State / Tooth & Nail release: TND1083-SS4
UPC: 026297108328
The first Living Sacrifice album without original vocalist DJ, and a deliberate shift in style away from pure death metal to more of a metalcore hybrid.
"The style of the album is more on the lines of Metal with Hardcore beats if you can catch my drift. There really isn't any other way that I could possibly explain it to you other than for you to just get the album and listen for yourself." -Dead ezine
Reborn empowered
All strongholds broken
Old ways have died,
Given new life
Boldness engulfs my every word,
Strength empowered by God
Jesus
The strength in Christ's name
Power, all knees must bow
Same spirit that dwells in us,
Raised Him from the dead
This gift freely given,
You will believe
Evil, its plan to deceive,
Manipulation, deception we bind
Rebirth, confession,
That He is God, almighty
Reborn empowered
All strong holds
Broken old ways have died,
Given new life
Rebirth, confess, our Lord
Breath of God released faith
Creates all life perfect plan
Sin invades
Separates man from God
The fallen state
Lamb of God sacrifice fulfills
All law with sinless life
Love beyond all that's known
God himself bore our sin
Jesus truth solution,
Truth solution, the only solution
Before all time his plan was made
To give free will yet show the way
To give his son in our place,
To die, to rise forever reign
Beware deception,
All highs fade except God
Deluded path
Confront to blind eyes
From the, from the truth
The choice is free to all
Rejection receives hell
There is no other way
Acceptance eternal life in
Jesus, truth solution,
Truth solution, the only solution
Do what you want to do,
Say what you want to say to me
I know what you'd like
To think of me
This is not real it can't be real
This thing I feel
You're threatening
You're threatening
How can I not hate you, hate you
How can I not be free, be free
I know deep down inside
How God reveals himself
I know deep down inside
To know him I must kill pride
Why do you care so much for me,
What's in this for you
Why can't selfishness rule you
Like everybody else
Let go pride, let go pride,
Cannot deny, cannot deny
This thing I feel, I feel inside
How God reveals himself
I know deep down inside
To know him I must kill pride
Awakening has taken place in me,
Breathe in the newness of life
Drink freely new wine
Awaken from stagnant,
Passiveness broke free
Constrictive casualness
The dawn has come,
We must move on
Steadfast, faithfulness,
Put off, laziness
Wake up, wake up
Awaken from sleep,
Open your eyes, receive
Healed of crippling lethargy
Our spirits no longer
Reek of sleep
Through prayer we've entered
In the throne room
The will of God
Awaken from stagnant broke free
The dawn has come,
We must move on
Steadfast putoff casual
Wake up, wake up
It begins, exhume, resurrect,
Crucify again
His flesh not yours,
His strength not yours
His death was your rebirth
Why embrace a lie,
Why refuse the Spirit
Withdraw from vital union
Enslaved, enslaved
Do not open wide
The door that leads to destruction
Don't Resurrect
What has been killed
Truth laid out, castdown pride
I grasp for life, I embrace God
Crucify again my flesh not dead
His strength not mine
His death is rebirth,
Rebirth, rebirth
Do not open wide
The door that leads to destruction
Don't resurrect
What has been killed
Fear get away from me
Doubt has no place in me
Seduction of death will go
Intermittent thoughts of past life
I do not know that man
Anymore nevermore
Weight has lifted,
is broken
That yoke destroyed
I've nothing more to do with it
Peace deep within I'm set free
I have become something else
My spirit breathes freely again
That yoke destroyed
I've nothing more to do with it
No longer tormented
No longer
Origin of consciousness,
Fat acid rhetoric
Promulgate me mentally
Twisted to no deity
Interpret your reality,
Sell to me no absolutes
Moral relativity,
This world is false
Something more
I have a soul
Of not flesh and bone
I have a Spirit
That cries out to know God
The speculation seems so vague
It does not fulfill
What's real inside of me
Don't pacify spiritual
Teach me to be me in Christ
Origin of consciousness
Spiritual
I am not what meets the eye
Sellout, sellout, selfish lust
Gone, no time for games,
Free will reigns
I will to surrender,
I will take my cross,
My flesh subjected,
My spirit rise
Focus, focus,
Straightway on my God,
No more needless,
Cares of temporal
No more deception,
Subtle thoughts,
Focus straightway on eternal
My spirit cries out to you God,
To live is Christ, to die gain
I will not build again,
Things which I've destroyed
I will not
Make myself transgressor
Hay and stubble
Will burn away
Only God, only God remains
My spirit cries out to you God,
To live is Christ, to die gain
Spirit fall on this land,
Convicting power cleansing man
Reveal your truth to blind eyes,
Rip the scales from their sight
Holy Spirit be thee praised
Arise, be made new
In the fullness of His truth
Repent and believe by His power
You'll be free
Anointing fall on this place,
Spirit of God
We give you praise,
We give you praise,
We give you praise,
We give you...
I set my self up
I've no one to blame but my
Self pity is useless
I'll not entertain your sickness,
Sickness
Half truths, deceit, forced in,
Not God, reject
Reject all lies
Rebuke take hold
Intrepid Spirit of God
Rebuke take hold
Authority of God
Reject all lies
Worthless, want to, be God,
Loser imitation
Fallen from all grace,
Deceitful lying beast your bound
Lord of maggots, we rebuke you,
Devil evil no authority
Whatever's bound on earth,
Will in heaven be bound
In Jesus' name
Enemy of God every knee will bow
Every tongue confess
Jesus Christ is Lord
You're already dead,
Be seen for what you are
Liar, liar, liar, liar
Enemy of God every knee will bow
Every tongue confess
Jesus Christ is Lord
By Ureil (02/18/2004 6:12:12 am): Great album, still in the stores, so they must have done something right.
By LarsA81 (04/15/2004 8:07:29 am): WWWAAAUUW, what's this. Absolutly awesome metalcore from these masters. Lots and lots of aggression and groove added with some acoustic stuff here and there. Very brutal still. The lyrics are just so amazing. Total praise to The Most High.
Lars.
By brownie (05/19/2004 9:19:49 am): can't tpuch these guys!
By Traveler in Time (12/23/2004 9:55:47 am): Possibly the best L.S. cd out there. Non-stop uncommpromising heaviness. Great straightforward lyrics.
By J_Chea (12/23/2004 12:13:12 pm): This album really helped me and spoke to me. Reborn and Reject just kill. This album was heavy and uncompromising in Message and I really respect that and them for it.
I wish these guys would still put out records. They deserve to be rock stars.
By tourniquet (12/24/2004 1:23:46 pm): J Chea, they ARE.
By J_Chea (12/27/2004 4:41:57 pm): In the secular world.
By CaptainCaffiene (01/05/2005 3:55:45 pm): this CD rocks my face off
By tombthroat (01/10/2005 3:18:23 pm): way better than their other stuff
By wahoofan (01/23/2005 8:11:18 pm): Sweet!! I especially like Reject!
By Derek (02/24/2005 9:56:31 am): "No matter what you try and label it, Reborn is an onslaught of metal that is as crushing as it is interesting... ...I do usually prefer my metal to be longer in individual song-length, but that comes from my love of thrash and prog. Because Living Sacrifice is so heavily groove oriented, so forcefully rhythmic, I enjoy it on a different level."
By jbzoller (03/19/2005 9:45:24 am): Thought it was cool at first because I was just getting into the true Christian metal scene, but I never was a big fan of this style of metal vox, so when I found other artists who sounded better, I pretty much abandoned this CD.
By Sir_Cae (03/25/2005 10:23:48 am): Very nicely put together CD. From what I've heard of their music...This was a CD that definitely changed their musical careers and when they truly started redefining metal.
By hclife4christ (04/09/2005 1:10:02 pm): must have, as all Living Sacrifice albums. this is metal!
By GloriousDregs (05/14/2005 1:23:34 pm): Now this is more like it...Ditching the practically unlistenable death metal they were dishing out (along with sub-par vocalist D.J.) for a unique brand of progressive thrash (they hadn't yet degenerated to full on metalcore) Lyrically and musically spectacular, easily the best Living Sacrifice album.
By ultmetal (05/17/2005 1:32:07 pm): Oh my! If the first song doesn't send you into spastic fits then you are either dead or you don't like heavy, infectious riffs. A nice mixture of thrash and metalcore.
By slamdancer777 (06/05/2005 1:22:44 am): THIS ALBUM OWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OLD SCHOOL pit time
By Frost_Like_Ashes (07/02/2005 6:46:34 pm): If core sounds like this then I love it!!! but hardly anyone does it as well as this album was done!!!
By SonofGhosts (07/06/2005 1:46:33 pm): reject is my favorite song on this album
By WOODchuck1 (08/16/2005 11:15:00 pm): MAN THESE GUYS MADE MEAN MUSIC!
By endlessfuneral2003 (10/18/2005 9:13:04 pm): Woah, the album I've always feared to review...
let's start by the BAD (less good:P) : this cd doesn't scream "PLAY ME" for some reason...It's hard to explain... also the lyrics sheet is pretty hard to read and there's like one filler song that I always skip.
the GOOD : Ahhhhhh very refreshing lyrics with a killer thrash sound to back it up! I think the vocals are very intense and greatly shouted.
fav tracks : Reborn Empowered, Awakening, Reject, Spirit Fall
4/5
By metalmister777 (10/23/2005 12:05:13 pm): Wow. Back in 1997 I gave up hope to find nice christian metal. Til I discovered this. This is awesome!!! I love the radical lyrics too. REBORN EMPOWERED!! 4.5/5
By Jzusfreak7 (11/17/2005 4:42:13 pm): This was my 1st Metal CD and it kept in
the Metal scene, listened to hip-hop/rap
before so that says alot!!! it's GREAT!!!!
By Holy Roller (11/21/2005 3:17:11 pm): An absolute classic. One of the all-time greatest Christian metal releases. Blisteringly heavy and intense. Awesome spiritual lyrics, too. Not really metalcore. More of an intense thrash metal. Great playing by everyone involved.
By ghosts of athanasius (12/12/2005 1:54:28 am): this is probably my favorite after S/T Awesome power in every way. This music fuels my passion for GOd. I love these songs. Reject is my fav but I love every second of this disc. A masterpiece IMO

By coremetalgrindhead (04/20/2008 3:29:00 pm): With out a doubt my favorite LS record
By Worship at Full Volume (09/13/2009 5:58:39 pm): Just picked up the re-issue of this for my collection and decided to give it a listen. This is one album that I never got tired of. I enjoyed listening to it this past week as much as I did when I first listened to it on cassette! Got to see them perform many of the songs off of "Reborn" in 2000 at a festival in New Hampshire. Great stuff!
